Tesla Model Y L Launched in China, to Be Exported to Australia and Other Markets Next Year
JohnAug 19, 2025, 04:39 PM
[PCauto] On August 19, 2025, Tesla officially launched the all-new Model Y L in the Chinese market, with a starting price of 339,000 CNY (approximately 1,534,000 THB / 200,000 MYR). Designed specifically for the Chinese market as a flagship SUV, the Model Y L is positioned between the Model Y and Model X, featuring a three-row, six-seat layout.
The vehicle is expected to begin deliveries in September 2025 and is likely to be exported to international markets such as Australia in the future. This launch comes at a critical time when Tesla aims to address declining sales in China during the first half of the year. The Model Y L is intended to attract families by offering enhanced space and upgraded range capabilities.
Model Y L is the extended version of the Model Y
In terms of exterior design, the Model Y L retains Tesla’s family design language but has significantly increased dimensions. The vehicle’s dimensions are as follows:
Length: 4976mm
Width: 1920mm
Height: 1668mm
Wheelbase: 3040mm
Compared to the current Model Y, the body is 179mm longer, and the wheelbase is extended by 150mm.
The front features a continuous light strip with split headlights, while the B-pillar to C-pillar side windows are elongated. The waistline subtly rises in the rear half, maintaining the fastback design.
At the rear, the “Y” badge is accompanied by two shadow lines, indicating its extended version identity.
The roofline has been optimized, with a drag coefficient as low as 0.216, and the newly designed spoiler enhances the sporty feel. These modifications not only improve visual fullness but also provide more interior space.
Model Y L offers a 3-row 6-seat layout
The interior and space are the core highlights of the Model Y L. The new car adopts a “2+2+2” six-seat layout, with the second row featuring independent electric seats that support multi-directional adjustment, heating, and ventilation functions. The third-row seats can be electrically folded.
In terms of space performance, the third-row headroom is approximately 95cm, and legroom clearance is about 20cm, suitable for children or emergency use. The trunk volume is 353L with all three rows in use, expanding to 2158L when the third row is folded down, capable of accommodating two 24-inch and one 20-inch suitcases
Tesla officially emphasized that the optimized roof structure and a 20mm lateral space expansion allow passengers as tall as 187cm to sit comfortably. The total storage space is 2539L, and the trunk cover design is unique, supporting space transformation, with a magnetic feature for vertical storage.
In terms of intelligent technology, the Model Y L comes standard with the HW4.0 chip, supporting the storm vision mode and FSD functions, covering highway navigation and automatic parking, though city NOA is not yet available. The in-car system is upgraded to a 15.4-inch central control screen and a rear 8-inch entertainment screen, powered by AMD chips.
Other upgrades include a 16-inch central touch screen (30% resolution improvement), a wireless charging pad for the front seats (supports 50W+30W fast charging with air-cooled heat dissipation), and a brand-new sound system that adds a central armrest speaker and dual speakers on top.
Powertrain continues Tesla’s high-performance standards
The Model Y L is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, with a maximum power of 340kW (462 horsepower), achieving 0-100km/h acceleration in just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 201km/h. Paired with an 82kWh ternary lithium battery, it can achieve a maximum range of 751km.
The chassis is equipped with CDC continuously variable damping shock absorbers, significantly improving vibration filtering performance, and offering stronger high-speed driving support.
China market is one of Tesla’s few opportunities
Tesla’s sales have declined in most global regions. However, the decline in China is the smallest. In the first half of 2025, Tesla’s total sales in the Chinese market reached 263,400 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of about 5.4% compared to 278,300 vehicles in the same period the previous year. This is much better than the declines in Europe (down 33%) and the North American market (down 9%).
Tesla understands very well that the Chinese market is one of its few opportunities. Even though the Chinese market has strong competitors like Li Auto, AITO, and Xpeng, the Model Y L needs to establish competitiveness in China first before it can help Tesla recover sales in other countries and regions.

2025 BYD Seal Coming to Malaysia with DiSus-C Adaptive Suspension
JohnAug 13, 2025, 05:28 PM

【PCauto】BYD Malaysia has confirmed on its official social channels that the 2025 BYD Seal will arrive in Malaysia soon. The new model keeps the strengths of the current Seal but adds several upgrades aimed at improving comfort and everyday usability.
Design Stays True to the Current Model
The 2025 BYD Seal keeps the overall look of the current model but gets a few subtle tweaks. It now rides on aluminum alloy wheels designed for better aerodynamics, and the panoramic sunroof comes with a new electric sunshade for added convenience.

Front trunk space has been bumped up from 50 liters to 53 liters, making it a bit more practical for daily use.

Every 2025 BYD Seal now comes with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen running the DiLink smart infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On the safety side, you get nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, and an L2 driver assistance suite that includes automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist.
Standout Feature: DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Control
Borrowed from the flagship Denza D9, this electronic adaptive suspension boosts stability in corners and makes the ride smoother. It’s expected to be offered mainly on the range-topping Performance AWD trim.

Same Three Powertrain Options as the Current Model
The Dynamic RWD uses a 100 kW rear motor and a 61.44 kWh battery, delivering a WLTP range of 460 km. The Premium RWD steps up to a 230 kW rear motor and an 82.56 kWh battery, good for 570 km.
The range-topping Performance AWD packs a 390 kW dual-motor setup that does 0–100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, with a range of 520 km.
For charging, the Dynamic supports 100 kW DC fast charging. The Premium and Performance trims bump that to 150 kW, letting you go from 30% to 80% in about 32 minutes.

2025 Seal Arrives as Malaysia’s EV Battle Heats Up
With rivals like the refreshed Tesla Model 3 rolling in, BYD has to keep its edge with steady product updates. This isn’t a full redesign, but tweaks to the suspension and everyday features directly tackle feedback from current owners.

It’s worth noting that BYD Malaysia has chosen to build hype on social media first, instead of revealing the full specs and price right away. This approach keeps the buzz going while giving the brand flexibility on final pricing.
Since the 2025 Seal’s price in Singapore has gone up slightly compared to the previous model, we might see a small bump in Malaysia too.
As deliveries get closer, BYD Malaysia will reveal more details on the local version. Buyers are eager to know about real-world range, market-specific features, and after-sales support, all of which are still awaiting official confirmation.
