Face-Lifted 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Gains Charge Port
2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer | Manufacturer image
The Grand Wagoneer, Jeep’s rival to the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, is getting its first refresh since the current generation returned to the market for the 2022 model year. So far, all Jeep has given us is a single photo of the upcoming three-row SUV, but two things in that image are noteworthy.

Finally Part of the Family
First off, while the most obvious aspect of the redesign is its more assertive front end, which sports pencil-thin LED light strips across a vestigial seven-slot grille, there is now Jeep lettering on the leading edge of the hood. Since the revitalized Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer launched, Jeep has been treating the pair as a sub-brand even though customers buy them from Jeep dealerships and have them serviced by Jeep technicians. Now, the brand is officially claiming the 2026 Grand Wagoneer as a Jeep.
The 2026 Grand Wagoneer’s traditional Jeep grille appears to have been reduced to more of an honorific styling element than a necessary air intake, with a larger grille occupying much of the lower front bumper. Look closely at that front fender and you’ll see one potential reason for this: a charge port door. The Grand Wagoneer is built on a version of the frame that underpins the Ram 1500 pickup, and it looks likely that the 2026 SUV will be available with a version of the Ramcharger’s powertrain.

Plug It In
In what is known as a range-extended electric setup, the Ramcharger uses a battery pack and electric motors to travel more than 145 miles before its Pentastar V-6 engine fires up to keep the battery charged. Jeep parent company Stellantis says the Ramcharger will have a total gas/electric range of 690 miles — certainly enough for family road trips.
Along with the recently announced hybrid next-gen Cherokee, a hybrid Grand Wagoneer (and a regular Wagoneer) would leave the Gladiator and Compass as the only Jeep products available without a hybrid powertrain option. Despite the technical differences between a plug-in hybrid and a range-extended electric vehicle, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Jeep use its 4xe branding on the upcoming Grand Wagoneer. We won’t have to wait long to find out; Jeep promises the 2026 Grand Wagoneer will be fully revealed this fall. Stay tuned for future details.
