【PCauto】The MGS5 EV has just been launched in Malaysia, and some consumers may find it unfamiliar or even question the brand’s safety. However, the recent five-star safety rating awarded by Euro NCAP serves as strong validation, increasing its popularity among consumers.

Euro NCAP ratings have long been regarded as an authoritative benchmark for vehicle safety.
In terms of overall performance, the MGS5 EV achieved high scores:
– Adult Occupant Protection: 90%
– Child Occupant Protection: 82%
– Vulnerable Road User Protection: 82%
– Safety Assist Systems: 78%
Such comprehensive and outstanding performance helped it acquire the five-star safety rating.
In adult occupant protection, the MGS5 EV maintained a stable passenger compartment during the frontal offset test, providing excellent protection for the driver and front passenger’s knees and femurs. During side impact tests, it demonstrated good protection for all critical body areas.

MGS5 EV also performs well in child protection. Both 6-year and 10-year-old child dummies received good protection in frontal and side collision tests. Additionally, the front passenger airbag can be deactivated to accommodate rear-facing child seat installation.

For vulnerable road users, the MGS5 EV also performs exceptionally well. Although some weak protection areas exist (such as around the windshield pillars), it generally provides good protection for pedestrians’ and cyclists’ heads, pelvises, and femurs.
Moreover, the MGS5 EV’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system responds effectively to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, capable of preventing or mitigating collision impacts in critical situations.
