【PCauto】Proton has officially confirmed the launch of the e.MAS 5, which is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
In terms of naming, the “5” in e.MAS 5 clearly positions it as a compact model, whose target consumer is young people, differentiating it from the family-oriented e.MAS 7.
The Proton e.MAS 5 is built based on the Geely XingYuan, adopting a compact and agile hatchback design. Its dimensions include a length of 4,135mm, width of 1,805mm, height of 1,570mm, and a wheelbase of 2,650mm.

The e.MAS 5 has distinctive design of side lines,with recessed and protruding contours that create a strong sense of dynamism. The display model’s silver-gray body paired with a black roof delivers a modern, youthful, and tech-savvy aesthetic.

The e.MAS 5 also shows impressive design in details. The front fascia adopts a closed grille design, a popular trend among pure EVs, which not only looks clean but also emphasizes its electric identity.

The slim headlights on either side like sharp eyes, enhancing both the car’s front-end recognition and its refined appearance. Hidden door handles provides smoother side profiles while reducing aerodynamic drag, improving both overall aesthetics and performance.
The glossy black wheel arches contrast sharply with the body color, highlighting the car’s sporty character and improving its visual effect.
At night, the taillights show a unique lighting effect, giving the rear a more stylish look while significantly improving the vehicle’s nighttime visibility.

Proton e.MAS 5 will launch two versions, Prime and Premium.
- The Prime version provides the range of 345 kilometers;
- The Premium version provides the range of 410 kilometers.
Although detailed specifications such as the exact battery capacity of the e.MAS 5 have not yet been disclosed, we can refer to the Geely XingYuan as a benchmark. The base Geely XingYuan is equipped with a 30.1 kWh battery, delivering a range of 310 km, while the Premium variant adopts a 40.2 kWh battery, extending the range to 410 km.

The Proton e.MAS 7 has performed exceptionally well since entered the automobile market. With just this single model, Proton has secured the second position in Malaysia’s EV sales, registering 737 units in April, closely following the leader, BYD (1,020 units). Once the e.MAS 5 comes out in the fourth quarter, it is possible for Proton to surpass BYD in sales of electric vehicle.
