Watch Video: How Many Bags Can Fit Into The Kia Carens Clavis EV’s Boot?
The Kia Carens Clavis EV has a 216-litre boot space with three rows of seating, which can be expanded for more room by folding the 3rd and 2nd rows
The Kia Carens Clavis EV is the most affordable electric MPV by the Korean carmaker, which is priced from Rs 17.99 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). It is positioned as a practical 3-row EV, well-suited for larger families who often head out on long road trips or vacations, which calls for a big boot space that can accommodate everyone’s cargo. To see if it lives up to the expectations, we decided to put its boot space to the test and check how practical it really is for carrying luggage. Wondering how it performed? Let’s find out.

The Test
For the boot space test, we used three medium-sized cabin trolleys, one large cabin bag, and three backpacks to check the Carens Clavis EV’s practicality with different seating layouts. Could it fit in all this luggage? Let’s find out.
The Result

With all three rows upright, the boot could manage only one medium cabin bag along with two regular-sized rucksacks. Folding the third row, however, freed up enough space to fit all our luggage comfortably.
We didn’t test it further, but the second row can be folded down in a 60:40 split, which can open up a much larger storage area, which is ideal for carrying bigger loads and even for shifting small homes.

The second-from-top Techno variant gets most of the safety tech from the lower-spec variants but has some nice touches to make it seem and look more premium

We have just received the facelifted Renault Kiger on our shores. The sub-4m SUV – which was launched back in 2021 – has now gotten its first major refresh. As part of the update, the SUV has now been introduced in a revised variant lineup: Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Emotion. In this story, let’s check out the second-to-top Techno variant in detailed images, starting with its exterior:
Front

The Techno variant of the facelifted Renault Kiger comes with tri-pod LED headlights, while LED DRLs are already on offer from the entry-level Authentic trim. It does have a silver finished skid plate and Renault’s fresh logo in the centre of the grille. The new Kiger misses out on LED fog lamps, which are exclusive to the fully loaded Emotion variant.
Side
From the sides, you can notice the provision of blacked-out roof bars (that have a load-carrying capacity of 50 kgs), gloss-black finish for the ORVMs (with turn indicators) and door handles, and chunky body side moulding. Renault has fitted it with 16-inch steel wheels with stylised covers that resemble alloy wheels.
Rear

It carries on with the C-shaped LED tail lights from the base variant as well as the updated ‘Renault’ logo, dual-part spoiler, and the ‘Kiger’ badge that sits just below it. That said, it has a silver-finished skid plate as seen on the front profile and a sharkfin antenna. It’s also the entry-level variant if you want your Renault SUV to have a rear wiper along with a washer. However, Renault has reserved rear defogger for the top-spec Emotion variant.
Colours
The Techno variant of the updated Kiger SUV is available in a choice of both single-tone and dual-tone. Renault offers it in a total of 10 colourways, including Oasis Yellow (new) and Shadow Grey (new). Four of these 10 colours are dual-tone options for the Techno trim.
Interior

It’s from the Techno trim onwards that the new Kiger starts to look and feel more premium, thanks to brushed silver finish for the door handles, chrome finish for the rotary AC dials, and silver accents on the door pads.

Although the interior of the Kiger’s Techno variant features dual-tone white and grey theme, it still gets dual-tone fabric seats. Features like 60:40 split-folding rear seats, 3-point seatbelts for all occupants, and adjustable headrests for all passengers are available from the base-spec Authentic variant. It also retains the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and rear AC vents, both of which have been provided from the one-above-base Evolution trim.
The Techno trim also adds a twin glovebox. It comes with the same 3-spoke steering wheel across the range featuring Renault’s updated logo, and also gets audio and calling controls from this trim onwards. You can notice the same semi-digital instrument cluster that’s on offer from the base-spec Authentic variant.
Features And Safety
Equipment on board the Kiger Techno comprises wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start/stop, power-folding ORVMs, automatic climate control, and a height-adjustable driver seat.
For occupant safety, the Techno variant only adds a rear wiper with washer. All other safety tech that’s available in the lower-spec trims, including six airbags, electronic stability programme (ESP), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a reverse parking camera has been retained.
Powertrain Options
Renault offers the Kiger facelift’s Techno trim with both the engine options that are provided with the refreshed SUV, making it the entry-level variant with the choice of the turbo-petrol engine. Here’s a look at their technical specifications:

One of the biggest strengths of the Renault Kiger since 2021 has been its rear seat space. But does the facelifted sub-4m SUV deliver a similar experience? We find out

The Renault Kiger is one of the most value-for-money sub-4m SUVs on sale in India, prices of which range between Rs 6.30 lakh and Rs 11.30 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). It received a mid-cycle update recently that rendered it with a modern exterior design, a two-tone interior theme and a couple of new features. That being said, has the rear seat comfort quotient changed with the facelift?
To find out, we tested the seating space of its rear bench by accommodating passengers with heights ranging from 5 feet to 6 feet in our latest Instagram Reel on the CarDekho Instagram handle. Here’s how we did it and the results we found:
Setup

The first and foremost thing that we did to determine the cabin space available for rear seat passengers was to adjust the driver’s seat to a position that would be comfortable for an adult who measured more than 6 feet in length. After that, we moved onto the rear bench and tried seating individuals with heights varying from 5 feet 5 inches to over 6 feet to check out the space and comfort factor.

Features And Safety

The Renault Kiger is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display and a 6-speaker Arkamys-tuned audio system. It also gets a wireless phone charger, auto AC with rear vents, ventilated front seats and cruise control.

Its safety suite consists of 6 airbags (as standard), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, rear parking sensors, 3-point seatbelts for all seats with reminders and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

Powertrain Options

The facelifted Kiger comes with a turbo-petrol and a naturally aspirated petrol engine option, the detailed specifications of which are as follows:
Engine | 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine | 1-litre turbo-petrol engine |
Power | 72 PS | 100 PS |
Torque | 96 Nm | 160 Nm (MT), 152 Nm (CVT) |
Transmission Options* | 5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT | 5-speed MT, CVT |
*AMT = Automated manual transmission, CVT = Continuously variable transmission
Renault is also offering an aftermarket CNG kit with the Kiger’s naturally-aspirated petrol-manual combination, which can be retrofitted at an authorised fitment centre at an additional cost of Rs 79,500.
Price And Rivals

The 2025 Renault Kiger facelift is priced between Rs 6.30 lakh and Rs 11.30 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). It locks horns with sub-4m SUVs such as Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza, and can be considered an alternative to sub-4m crossovers like the Maruti Fronx and Toyota Taisor.
