Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Corp. also plans to shake the automotive industry by launching cutting-edge electric vehicles to rival global brands like Tesla Inc. Recently, Xiaomi launched a highly advanced Xiaomi YU7 at 253,500 yuan (Approx. AED 129,500). The YU7 SUV was presented as a direct rival to the Tesla Model Y, which has been a flagship and best-selling model from an American electric vehicle manufacturer.

The pricing structure of Xiaomi YU7 is also in line with analysts’ expectations and comparatively lower than the showroom price of the Tesla Model Y.

However, the model is currently available only in China, and the bookings for Xiaomi YU7 have also commenced. The company announced the pre-booking for all new YU7 SUVs on Thursday for a token amount of 5,000 yuan (Approx. AED 2,550).
Xiaomi’s founder, Lei Jun, also revealed that the customers who have booked the company’s first electric car, the SU7 sedan, but haven’t received the deliveries, have three days to switch their bookings for the YU7 SUV.
After the event, the company also announced that they had processed over 200,000 pre-orders for YU7 within three minutes after the official booking window opened.
The top model of Xiaomi YU7 offers 760 km of range on a single charge and can accelerate 0-100 km/h in 3.23 seconds. The YU7 has nine different color options, has a lidar system, and packs an 800-volt platform for fast charging. The pricing for the top model of YU7 has been kept at 329,900 (Approx. AED 168,500).
The model has been specifically designed for Chinese car buyers looking for cutting-edge features like tech-enabled driver dashboards, massage chairs, and a spacious interior environment.
Will Xiaomi YU7 Arrive in the UAE?
The Xiaomi YU7 has been launched in China, and the company hasn’t revealed its plan to launch the model in global markets, including the UAE. However, Emirati customers already have a range of performance-oriented electric cars, including the flagship Tesla Model Y, BMW iX, Mercedes-Benz EQS, Audi e-Tron, MG ZS EV, NIO EL8, and Kia EV5.
