Chevrolet has expanded its 2026 Silverado EV lineup by adding an off-road Trail Boss variant. Previously, the automaker offered off-road trim in its Silverado and Colorado models. The newly introduced lifted off-road trim offers customers additional functional capabilities to deliver exceptional performance in off-road conditions.

On this update, Scott Bell, VP of Chevrolet, said that Trail Boss has been one of the highest-turning trims in the brand’s portfolio since it was launched on the 2019 Silverado. Adding Trail Boss trim to the Silverado EV will give customers an option that builds on the company’s truck pedigree, high electric range, and off-road capability.
The 2-inch lift offers Trail Boss trim about 24% higher ground clearance than the Silverado EV base variant. The coil suspension is differently tuned with a hydraulic rebound control system.
The newly introduced trim also gets a variant Terrain mode available at low speeds and offers extra control when maneuvering areas with uneven or narrow terrains. Unlike Normal mode, the Terrain mode unlocks a sharper 4-wheel Steer for better control, torque, and low-speed traction. It is paired with other drive modes like off-road and Sidewinder modes; the Silverado EV Trail Boss is designed to deliver top-end performance for any adventure drive.

Chevrolet first launched Sidewinder mode in RST trim vehicles, allowing four wheels to turn in the same direction and moving the truck diagonally at low speeds. Several options are available on the infotainment screen, allowing drivers to navigate the rugged and tough-to-maneuvered terrains.

The Trail Boss gets an extended-range battery pack that allows the Silverado EV to offer a maximum towing capacity of 5,670 kg and a payload of 952 kg. The electric powertrain of this off-road EV churns up to 725 horsepower and 1050 Nm of peak torque.
Despite its potent electric powertrain, the Silverado EV has a bold, aggressive design that makes it stand out in the electric truck segment. The EV has a high-angle approach front fascia, rugged 35-inch all-terrain tires with 18-inch wheels, Trail Boss badging, distinctive interior color, and red front two hooks. The Silverado electric truck is available in nine exterior color options, including three new options: White Sands, Polar White Tricoat, and Magnus Grey Matte Metallic.

On the tech front, the Chevrolet EV comes mated with Super Cruise enhancements, including Google Maps and newly added hands-on functionality to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane. When the vehicle reaches the Super Cruise-enabled road, the steering wheel light bar allows drivers to enjoy hands-free driving for added comfort. The adaptive cruise controls have also been upgraded so the driver can automatically adjust the speed to match the required speed limits.
Chevrolet has offered its Silverado EV in three trims: Work Truck, LT, and Trail Boss. In the US, the starting price of the 2026 Silverado EV is kept at $54,895. All three trims are available in three battery pack options: standard, extended, and max. The standard battery pack allows the EV to achieve up to 460 km of range, while the extended and max options offer up to 682 km and 793 km, respectively.
