【PCauto】Japanese media reports that the new-generation Suzuki Swift Sport will be equipped with a newly developed 1.4-liter turbocharged engine.
Equipped with New 1.4T Engine Featuring MHEV Technology
The current Swift Sport is already well-known, powered by a 1.4T BOOSTERJET engine delivering 140 horsepower and 230 N·m of torque.
The newly developed 1.4T engine for the Swift Sport is expected to offer improved performance, with projected maximum output reaching 150 horsepower and peak torque likely hitting 250 N·m. More notably, this engine will introduce mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) technology.
The adoption of the mild hybrid system enhances Swift Sport’s initial acceleration response, improves its fuel efficiency, and provides supplemental power assistance under specific driving conditions. For transmissions, options are expected to remain as the 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.

New Swift Sport to Be Built on All-New HEARTECT Platform
The next-generation Swift Sport will utilize Suzuki’s latest HEARTECT platform. A key advantage of this platform is its enhanced body rigidity, which improves handling precision and driving stability. Combined with a sportier suspension setup, the new Swift Sport delivers an enjoyable driving experience.
In terms of exterior design, the new Swift Sport will draw inspiration from the Swift Concept showcased at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. Although it will introduce fresh styling, it will retain the iconic design elements of the Swift series to maintain high recognition.

Judging from disclosed dimensions (approximately 3860×1695×1500mm in length/width/height), the new model will be slightly larger than the current version. The interior is also expected to follow modern trends, featuring a larger central display for improved tech appeal and daily usability.
In addition, new-generation Swift Sport also performs well in safety configuration. It will come standard with Suzuki Safety Support system, including functions like autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warning to enhance everyday driving safety.
Expected Price Around RM76k in Japan
As for its market positioning, Suzuki clearly aims to maintain the Swift Sport’s title as the “most affordable hot hatch”, with expected price around RM76k in Japan.
This price range makes it more affordable compared to competitors such as the Toyota GR Yaris (which is often priced much higher) and the Ford Fiesta ST (which is discontinued or updated differently in certain markets). It continues to target budget-conscious young consumers who prioritize driving enjoyment.

In summary, Suzuki’s move to equip the new-generation Swift Sport with a brand-new 1.4T engine and mild hybrid technology is a clear signal that the brand is actively embracing technological changes to meet modern demands.
However, given the automotive industry’s overall shift towards electrification, we may need to recognize that this generation of the Swift Sport with a new 1.4T engine could very likely be the last generation powered purely by an internal combustion engine.
