Neues Klasse architecture from BMW, which is exclusively designed for electric cars, is now said to underpin a range of upcoming BMW cars. The BMW iX3, based on this platform, is expected to debut soon in global markets, followed by the BMW i3. The Germany-based luxury car manufacturer reportedly works on an i2, a different range than the existing 2 Series lineup. This model is expected to be a four-door sedan with an electric powertrain system

BMWBlog has revealed that the upcoming BMW i2 electric sedan will be the brand’s entry-level model for its EV portfolio. The report also states that the upcoming i2 will focus on spaciousness and practicality. Currently, three versions of the BMW 2 Series are available in the market, including coupe or convertible, active tourer, and gran coupe.
The same report also highlights that the all-new BMW i2 will go on sale by 2030 and be introduced to replace the fossil fuel-powered 2 Series coupe. Currently, the automaker has no plan to launch a successor to its ICE-based 2 Series. Additionally, the BMW i2 is claimed to debut with RWD and AWD configurations, making it prominent for fun-loving driving enthusiasts.
The model is also expected to come with sixth-generation battery technology, featuring cylindrical-shaped cells that are claimed to increase range and charging speed by up to 30% compared to existing models. Also, the cylindrical-shaped battery cells produce fewer emissions during the manufacturing process.
BMW hasn’t revealed anything about the launch timeline of its electric i2. It’s also not confirmed if the automaker will launch its upcoming electric sedan in the UAE. However, the UAE market has been favorable for luxury cars and if the automaker launches its i2 EV, it can surely gain good momentum in the market.
