BYD Exports 214K Vehicles in Q1, Top Sales in 7 Markets

【PCauto】 In the first quarter of 2025, BYD’s car export volume reached 214,000 units, with a year-on-year growth rate of 117.27%, becoming the sales champion of new energy vehicles in seven markets: Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Brazil, Italy, and the United Kingdom.

Traditional Japanese vehicles have held the dominant position for a long time in the automobile market of the Hong Kong region in China , but BYD successfully changed the situation. In Q1 2025, BYD achieved quarterly sales of 2,500 units in Hong Kong region in China, capturing over 30% market share and gaining the title of best-selling brand for the first time.
In Singapore, BYD surpassed Toyota with a 20% market share through strategic adaptation of right-hand-drive models and aggressive expansion of dealer network. The Atto 3 dominated the pure electric vehicle segment by leveraging its pricing advantage of Category A COE .
Thailand also showed remarkable success. BYD’s Rayong factory created approximately 10,000 local jobs after beginning operations. At the 2025 Thailand International Motor Expo, BYD got 10,353 orders.

In Italy, the Atto 3’s adoption of Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology and Han EV’s Blade Battery showed its strong competitiveness, helping BYD achieve sales of 4,200 units and become Italy’s top-selling new energy brand.
In UK, the SEAL U DM-i, equipped with fifth-generation DM technology, achieved Q1 sales of 9,300 units in March – an astonishing 620% year-on-year increase. BYD has also established retail presence across 12 major UK cities.
Additionally, the Denza brand debuted its flagship Z9 GT at Milan Design Week. Featuring e³ Technology and Yunnian-A suspension, the pure electric version offers over 700 km of range, while the plug-in hybrid variant supports dual-gun ultra-fast charging, directly competing with premium brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi in the high-end automobile market.

In Australia, BYD ranked first in new energy vehicle sales with 8,800 units sold, where its BYD SHARK 6 plug-in hybrid model sold twice as many as the second most popular model.
In Brazil, BYD continues to improve its sales, reputation, and brand influence. The company surpassed 20,000 units in Q1 2025, securing the title of Brazil’s best-selling new energy vehicle brand. For the full year 2024, sales exceeded 76,000 units, propelling BYD from 15th to 10th place in the local automobile market rankings and establishing it as the local fastest-growing automotive brand.
